Guangzhou
is a lovely city where all US adoptions are finalized. We met some
Spainairds in Nanchang (Spain is apparently the 2nd most common country
to adopt from China) and they finalize adoptions in Shanghai. But, we
are in Guangzhou. So far it is lovely. We are staying on Shaiman
Island which is unbelievably quaint and quiet. It's amazing how restful
it is not to hear the constant blaring of horns! (in Nanchang there
were very few horns from 2 AM to 4 AM, otherwise it was pretty
constant...)
The food has been good so far. We
split this delicious plate of mushrooms in pumpkin sauce. I wish I'd
snapped a photo. Esme loved it which was a kick. We will see how long I
can resist the siren call of Starbucks which is conveniently located
just a block from our hotel. (you know you are in a tourist area
when...). It feels wrong to drink coffee when you are in the birthplace
of tea.
Love the photo of her sprawled out on the bed! It looks like you two are having a wonderful time getting to know each other. Thanks for sharing such a special time in your family's life!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure if Esme could take photos we'd see a sprawled out Mom, too! Maybe you'll get a few more hours of sleep with Grandma's arrival. You both look very happy--can't wait to meet Esme in person.
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS! CONGRATS!! So much fun to get the info right away, Jill. What a cutie Ms. Esme is. I am so excited your adventure as Mom and Dad of Esme has begun and can't wait to see what endeavors God has in store for your family. Jude and Max have a baby sis!
ReplyDeleteHoly smokes she is so cute! FB your address to me- I'm going to make her a present and mail it to you! (as soon as I'm done with residency interviews....)

Jill, I imagine about now that as awesome as your time has been in China that you are ready to get your baby girl HOME with Daddy and her big brothers! I remember having such mixed emotions...not wanting to leave Ruby's Homeland, but ready to start our new lives together in her new home with all of the family. Enjoy these final days (for now) in China with Esme and your mom. We will be praying you home!
ReplyDeleteSo loving the pics of Esme! She is just too cute for words!
Love,
Amy
